Assassin’s Creed movie gets Magneto
Variety is reporting that X-Men: First Class villain Magneto (aka Michael Fassbender) will be leading the upcoming Assassin`s Creed movie. And that’s not all: he’s co-producing it as well.
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice” to play the franchise’s iconic hooded hero, said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
Ubisoft plans to develop the movie independently and then have one of the key studios (like Sony with whom they were in negotiations before) distribute it.
Ubi has big plans with their franchises and they’ve set up a company called UMP (Ubisoft Motion Pictures) that’s supposed to transfer their game franchises into movies, TV shows and digital projects. Next to the Assassin’s Creed movie, they’ve also got plans for movies based on Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell, and also an animated TV series based on Raving Rabbids is coming up.
