Babylon A.D.
The world isn’t what it used to be anymore. There’s war everywhere and salvation of mankind seems to be far away. Toorop is a mercenary which manages to hold on in this world without too much trouble but actually he doesn’t care about much anymore.
When he gets hired to get a girl called Aurora to America, he accepts as it gives him the possibility to return to his home country and start a new life. It won’t be easy though, as several groups of people are after Aurora to get their hands on a terrible secret that’s inside her body.
Sound and Vision:
The image and sound quality are as to be expected with a recent Blu-ray release. Definitely good and without any issues.
What DID bother me personally is the fact that all the text in the movie (locations and timings and such) were put up in French. Like… WTF? Why does it have to be French? It’s not like Vin Diesel is French or we’re watching Diesel speak French so why not just keep the English text??? Bad point for Universal!

Conclusion:
Babylon A.D. is a futuristic action movie that shows a not too great future for our world. Little more does it say as the storyline that does contain some interesting elements is told rather chunky which leads to several unclarities while at the end you remain left a bit with a feeling or hunger. Vin Diesel does his usual act but the rest of the cast (including Charlotte Rampling and Gerard Depardieu) look a bit comical and Melanie Thierry hardly manages to put up a decent act as Aurora.
All in all Babylon A.D. looks like a mixture of James Bond (the snowscooter chase), French action movies (not a reference!) and a sniff of Riddick which sadly enough results in a movie that can be called mediocre at best. There was more potential present, if only the director would have done a better job and some other actors would have been cast (Diesel does a decent job).
Qua Blu-ray we get nice image and sound quality again but the extras are a bit thin.
