Bethesda making S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game?
According to Ukrainian blogger and marketing man Sergey Galyonkin, Bethesda has acquired the rights to make a game based on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe originally created by the now defunct GSC Games.
Galyonkin stated that although Bethesda can make S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, the extended rights for the franchise including books, merchandise or movies, remain with GSC’s Sergei Grigorovich. Apparently Bethesda does have the right to buy those rights as well at a later stage, much like how Bethesda acquired Fallout from Interplay back in the days.
“Didn’t we already do this rumor back in April?”
Worth of note: back in May, the rumor popped up that Bethesda had completely acquired the rights on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe, something both Bethesda as well as GSC founder Sergei Grigorovich openly denied. Of course, there was no discussion regarding Bethesda having partial rights, just to make a game.
