Big Bang Theory, The – Season 1

Leonard and Sheldon are two science nerds who have absolutely no clue when it comes to women. Together with their two friends, Howard Wolowitz, who still lives with his mother, and Rajesh Koothrappali who can’t speak in front of beautiful women, they have a life of watching sci-fi, compete in quizzes regarding science, and play Halo. Until a new neighbour arrives. When Penny moves in next door to Leonard and Sheldon, Leonard immediately falls in love and as of that moment, their lives will never be the same again…

Sound and Vision:
The Big Bang Theory is a comedy TV series with 20 minute episodes. What can you expect? The image and sound do what they’re supposed to do but it’s nothing special. Not that we would need anything special except for a bunch of good laughs.

Extras:
- Quantum Mechanics of the Big Bang Theory
Only one extra and I found it so interesting I shut it off halfway through.

Conclusion:
This first season of The Big Bang Theory introduces the characters and lays out the overall storyline (Leonard trying to score with Penny) but don’t expect too much depth. The comedy comes from simple jokes and geeky behaviour but works extremely well once you get into it. I do think you need to know what Leonard and Sheldon are talking about all the time as otherwise it might be hard to understand what’s so funny.

Simply said: The Big Bang Theory is a comedy show about geeks but to fully understand the jokes, you need to be somewhat of a geek yourself. And if you’re a geek, get it!

Our Score:
7.0
