Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

He has a chicken suit. Yes, Billy has a chicken suit. And he has to save the world from the black crows that want to bring eternal darkness…

Billy the Hatcher is Yuji Naka (Sonic the Hedgehog creator) and the SONICTEAM’s first completely new platform game since the Saturn era. And believe me, it’s good.

Billy runs around in his mighty chicken suit and uses different eggs to defeat his enemies and solve puzzles. If he feeds the eggs he can hatch them for special items or weird creatures that have abilities to help you solve problems or blast the bottoms off your enemies.

What makes this game so cool in it’s gameplay is that you’re almost constantly pushing an egg around, which needs some getting used to. As the egg grows when you feed it with fruit, it gets funnier to see the little guy huff and puff to stop the egg, run to it’s other side and push it to the opposite direction. With each egg Billy can perform various techniques like jumps, eggdrivers, attacks etc. Without the eggs he’s just a guy in a chickensuit (Yes, that’s bad).

The game is probably aimed at a young audience: your enemies are colorful animals that you have to run over/jump on with your egg and when they disappear they leave little fruitballs that help you grow your egg. The lack of realism is made up for with very well designed levels and a cartoony touch to it all.

It might be an easier game for hardcore gamers but it’s still fun to play.
