Quite a lot and usually interesting too if you want to know more about the ideas behind the movie.

Conclusion:
It's a musical, and we'll know it. There are so many songs in this movie that barely a moment passes without singing. All songs are from the Beatles, but covers rather than original versions. Texts remain the same, great for those who want to sing along, but that also means that sometimes a few songs don't seem to fit.
Several, however, are very good and pleasant to watch. It is unfortunate that such good scenes are rare in this movie. Usually we get to see weird scenes (often hallucinations) that are way over the top. A nice surprise in the movie are the funny cameos of Joe Cocker and Bono.

It is not always possible to understand what is going on in the background. Some historical knowledge of the sixties in the US is needed to fully comprehend the movie and even then a lot guessing is in order.

Although in the beginning several social conflicts appear in the movie, focus eventually shifts to the Vietnam war. The actual story is quite thin making it at times seem that nothing is happening at all. Luckily the acting is good, although not reaching any highs. There are some good and creative ideas in this movie, but the result is disappointing.

PRO

  • Some very good songs
  • Cameos Bono and Joe Cocker
  • Good acting
  • Good extras

CON

  • Too many songs
  • Some songs don't seem to fit
  • Over the top psychedelic stuff
  • Thin story
