Movie:
After a car crash, Anna Taylor wakes up on the cold, metal preparation table of a funeral home. She meets funeral director Eliot Deacon who tells her he has the ability to speak with the dead and helps them cross over to the other side.

As he prepares Anna for her final journey, the question, however, is: is Anna really dead or is Deacon a psychopath who burries people in coffins alive?

Sound and Vision:
The image of After.Life is solid but not really reference material. The contrast has whites too much blown out, there are some green screen outlines and some banding during the opening scene. Black levels are inky, however, with fine detail still being visible in the dark, and color tones are natural when they're supposed to be. As said: all in all a solid transfer but not perfect.

The soundtrack fits nicely with the movie and has understandable dialogues while the music supports the creepy atmosphere. However, the volume is a bit soft and overall we miss some dynamics. This could be better.

Extras:
- None

Conclusion:
After.Life is an interesting movie. It constantly makes you ask the question what's really going on. Is Ricci really dead or not? Is Deacon a deranged psychopath or a troubled man who wants to do the good thing? This premise is what the movie is all about and it works nicely. Still, the movie isn't perfect.

There are several scenes that break the illusion and Justin Long seems a bit out of place as the grieving boyfriend who wants to uncover the truth.

The good thing is that both Ricci and Neesom are great in their role and the tone and pace of the movie also are perfect to create a creepy and unsettling atmosphere.

Definitely worth renting if you haven't seen it yet.
