Movie:
David Kessler (David Naughton) and Jack (Griffin Dunne) are travelling through Europe when they come to a small town in the English countryside nearby London. The people there are all but friendly and both guys decide to go further eventhough it’s night time. A little later, they get overtaken by a wolf-life creature that kills Jack while David gets saved by the villagers who finally decided to save the travellers. A little later, David wakes up in a London hospital where he meets a beautiful nurse (Jenny Agutter) with whom he falls in love.

However, as full moon gets closer, David starts to notice some changes on himself and realises he’s turning into a werewolf.
 
Sound and Vision:
An American Werewolf in London is an old movie but this Blu-ray does a fine job cleaning things up. There's still some print defects, grain and noise present but the colors have been brightened up, the level of detail is better, there's noticeable depth and overall this disc does a fine job seeing the source material. Even the edge enhancement that was present in the latest DVD has been removed.

We get a new DTS-HD track that nicely supports the movie with good use of the surround speakers during scare effects. Just like with the image quality we can only say Universal has done a good job seeing what they were working with.

Most of the extras contain stuff that comes from the "Beware the Moon" documentary but seeing as that one lasts 90 minutes, it shouldn't come as a surprise. Still, a nice pack of extras and definitely worth checking out.
 
Conclusion:
An American Werewolf in London is a horror cult-classic and although it can look a bit outdated compared to modern day movies, this new Blu-ray does it some justice. The image and sound have been upgraded compared to the previous DVD releases and we get some nice extras that top things off.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, or don't have it on DVD, this Blu-ray is the version to get.
