Movie:
After hearing that the Planet Express has been saved from cancellation by the stupid Box Network, the old crew (Fry, Leela, Zoidberg, Hermes, Amy, Professor Farnsworth and of course Bender) can get back to business. First job: deliver a package to a nude beach planet!
Once there, they're tricked into giving all kinds of information to alien telemarketers and by the time they're back at their home base, the aliens have taken over the Planet Express and even downloaded some virus into Bender so that he's obliged to obey their every command.
It becomes even worse when it appears the aliens can detect information and that way find the secret of time travel printed on Fry's butt. Whenever this code is stated out loud, a sphere appears and anyone that jumps in it can be sent back to any time in the past. Since there's no possibility to return to the present, only one person can actually be sent back and survive until the present: Bender.
The aliens order Bender to go back in time and steal any piece of art for their collection, but with every time Bender jumps back, the chance of the universe collapsing gets bigger
Sound and Vision:
This film is shot with the same quality you have with the TV series of the show so nothing surprising here.
Extras:
- Audio commentary track by Matt Groening, David X Cohen,Billy West, ...
- Futurama returns: a live comic book reading by the Futurama cast
- Everybody loves Hypnotoad
- Deleted scenes
- A Terrifying message from Al Gore
- Bite my shiny metal X
- 3D models
- Comic-Con promo spot
- Futurama: The beast with a
billion backs
- Picture gallery
Conclusion:
Futurama is gone but not really. Instead of new TV seasons, we now get TV movies. In total four are supposed to be released and that counts for an equal viewing time as a full season of episodes. So yea, Futurama is back but one can wonder whether it's ever been gone.
Anyway, Bender's Big Score brings back all your favorite characters and a storyline with an insane plot and several side-stories that will keep you interested in watching. The comedy is still present but personally I found it nice but not really great. It's clear this is a TV movie as I doubt it would make big waves at the movies. It can't compete with The Simpsons Movie or South Park: The Movie.
Still, it remains enjoyable to watch and fans will love the return of their favorite cartoon characters. Definitely one for the fans, the rest of humanity (when planet Earth is back in our hands) should decide whether or not to rent it first for themselves.

PRO
- First of four TV movies
- Futurama is still funny
- Hilarious plots and sub-plots
CON
- Not at the same level as other "real" movies based on TV shows
