Movie:
The fifth installment of the Harry Potter series is all about the return of Lord Voldemort, or rather the denial of The Ministry of Magic concerning this topic.
In an effort to keep the return of Voldemort a secret, Dolores Umbridge is assigned as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. Since she introduces a bunch of stupid new rules and refuses to use each practical defensive magic, Harry decides to form a secret group named Dumbledore's Army that theaches themselves the fine art of magical defense.
Sound and Vision:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is visually a very good movie transfer. Watching this movie was a pleasure for my eyes ... so much of a pleasure I found myself moving closer and closer to my 40-inch full-hd screen so I wouldn't miss any details.
Almost no grain to be found, zero artifacts and superb detail (even for the backgrounds) makes me give this movie two thumbs up.
The 5.1 surround sound is pretty well balanced and doesn't make you search for the remote during the action scenes. Dialogs are easy to understand, maybe the rear channels could use some extra volume from time to time ...
Extras:
- Choose your favorite scenes and share them online
- Live community screening
- Deleted scenes
- The hidden secrets of Harry Potter
- A day with Tops
- Harry Potter : the magic of movie montage
Conclusion:
I'm not really a fan of the Harry Potter series, but this movie had my interest for the full 139 minutes due to both the story and the visuals.
Some remarks on the story: it has been since the first Lord of the Rings movie I've felt so dissapointed about the open ending of a story ... it just screams for more :)
