Movie:
In his youth, John Farley was traumatised by the reign of terror of his gym teacher, Mr. Woodcock. Being the chubby kid he was, Farley could never do anything well for Woodcock and he was often the object of laughter.

Years later. John Farley has become a successful author and is touring the US to promote his self-help book "Letting Go" when he gets invited by his hometown where he will be honored and receive the "corn key of the town".

Since he hasn't seen his mother in a long time, he thinks this is a great idea to catch up with her again but when he arrives his worst nightmare has become true. His mother has a new boyfriend: Mr. Woodcock!
 
Sound and Vision:
Nothing bad to be said about the image quality. Good contrast, excellent level of detail and no compression errors that spoil the fun too much.

The audio does a nice job as well with some good use of the surround speakers for music and effects.

Conclusion:
Mr. Woodcock has some decent actors in it: Billy Bob Thornton is great as the sadistic teacher, Sean William Scott plays his usual self and Susan Sarandon does an excellent job as the mother who wants to move on with her life.

Unfortunately, the cast can't help the fact that there's little to laugh with this film. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen all but one joke that's present and that's not a lot. Does that mean this movie is utter crap? Well, if you look at it as a romantic movie, you might find it mildly entertaining but one thing's for sure: as a comedy this film lacks jokes and no actor can make up for that.
