Movie:
Dane Cook takes on the role of a dentist called Charlie "Chuck" Logan, a handsome guy that ladies seem to love. But when it comes to actually saying that word, Chuck gets scared and because of that his latest relationship abruptly comes to an end. Shortly thereafter his ex-girlfriend is getting married, and apparently this isn't the first time it had happened. When women realise this, they see Chuck as the quick way to get what they've always dreamt of: getting married.
There is one problem however, Chuck has an eye on penguin caretaker Cam (played by Jessica Alba) who he met at the wedding party. She however is aware of his charm and wants to keep her distance. Chuck stands before the biggest challenge of his life: getting her to go out with him and convincing her that there's really no spell on him... or is there?
Sound and Vision:
The image starts off a bit grainy during the initial flashback of the movie, but picks up shortly after it. The quality is good in general with vivid colours and no encoding errors that I noticed. The soundtrack on the other hand is not using its full potential, with only a few scenes where the rear speakers are put to good use.
Extras:
The movie comes with a commentary track, seven featurettes, a series of bloopers, quite a few deleted and extended scenes, and the sex-matrix (you'll understand after seeing the movie). All are subtitled, and most of the stuff is worth watching.
Conclusion:
I have to admit that before watching the movie, I had myself prepared for yet another dull romantic comedy. After seeing the movie, though, I am pleased with the result. There's strong and spontaneous acting, actual funny jokes at times, a decent storyline and quite a lot of naked breasts. The extras are of good quality and are a more than welcome addition to the movie, and show you how spontaneous the acting was done. It might not be the best movie of this year, but it sure is one of the better in its genre.
