Movie:
Doug Billings and Tracy Garner are about to get married so two days before the marriage, Doug's friends Stu, Phil and Alan head off to Las Vegas for a 24 hour stag party.

The next morning the guys wake up in their thrashed appartment with absolutely no idea what has happened the night before and no trace of Doug what so ever. With only a day to go, they have to retrace their steps in order to find back their missing friend so he can get married...
 
Sound and Vision:
The image and sound are decent without being spectacular. In the image department things could have been a bit sharper, but contrast and level of black are good and there are no compression errors.

The sound does what it's supposed to do but the surround speakers only get some action when we get to hear some rock music. Other than that the focus is completely towards the front speakers.

Although the list above looks like a whole bunch of interesting extras are present (a list that made Warner even decide to not include a summary of the movie on the back cover!) in the end it quite disappoints. The commentary is nice but for the rest it's a collection of bloopers and deleted scenes along with some mildly funny stuff that hardly anyone will be interested in.

The Blu-ray has the theatrical version as well as the extended cut but the difference between both is minimal. Also the possibility to download a digital copy is present.
 
Conclusion:
The Hangover was a big success at the box office and not without reason. Despite the reasonably small budget, things look very good and the cast - which doesn't have many big names attached - does an incredible job with the simple setup.

The jokes are not as obstrusive as in f.i. Bruno or other slapstick movies that were released recently but hang in balance between intelligent and over the top.

All in all, The Hangover is one of the better comedies we've seen in the last year and although it may not be such a big name in the hall of fame for comedies, it sure as hell is one we would definitely advise to check out.
