Ghost Whisperer Season 4
Melinda and Jim aren’t having the easiest time of their life. They’re trying to get a kid and just when things start to get going in the right direction, Jim dies. Luckily Melinda can speak with the dead that are lingering around, but despite her requests, Jim refuses to go into the light. Instead, he jumps into the body of someone who just died, but the result isn’t exactly what both had hoped for…
Sound and Vision:
Compression errors are down to a minimum and despite the increased use of special effects, the overall quality remains high. Contrast and detail are decent and eventhough there’s quite a lot of scenes that look a bit soft, we really can’t complain about how the series looks.
We get a dynamic and warm Dolby Digital 5.1 track with a good sense of bass and subtle use of the surround speakers. A good track that perfectly suits the series.
Extras:
– Trailers
– Love for Always
– Het Experiment Jamie Kennedy
– Music for the Ghost World
– On the Other Side III Web Series
– Bloopers
Quite some promotional extras that don’t always add interesting info. Also beware of the main feature as it contains quite some spoilers about the main plot twists.
Conclusion:
This 4th season of Ghost Whisperer sees some major changes coming to the series. Not only does Professor Rick Payne (Jay Mohr) leave the show to be replaced by Eli James (Jamie Kennedy) but even Jim gets his life taken away. However, the last part is actually the only major change as where Payne used to bring some comedy, that is now easily taken over by Eli.
For the rest things remain quite the same: ghosts are angry, Melinda helps them and everything turns out alright and Melinda has tears in her eyes. And that’s a bit the main issue that’s starting to bother when watching this show: it’s always exactly the same, extremely predictable and every slightest bit of tension is almost immediately taken away in favor of tearjerking and drama.
Not that the fans will mind as this is probably the exact reason why they like it so much.
