House 2: The Second Story

Jesse and his girlfriend move to a house Jesse received from his parents after their death. While Jesse and his friend Charie – who came round in the middle of the night to celebrate Jesse’s birthday – explore the house, they meet Jesse’s grandfather (who’s 170 years old) who apparantly has a magic skull that made it possible for him to get this old. However, there are other creatures on the lookout to get their hands on the skull…

Sound and Vision:
The image quality is less than with the original House. Again we get some minor – but not dramatic – grain and compression errors, but here we also get to see some ghosting and the fact that the image isn’t always steady isn’t a good point either. Overall, the movie is reasonably decent but it shows that it’s an 80’s movie.

The soundtrack gets the same comments as with the original House. The 5.1 track has its little effects positioned wrong and the 2.0 track is better.

Conclusion:
While House was a horror movie with some comedy on the side, House 2 is the other way around: comedy with some horror effects. Personally I found this to be less appealing but for a small price you might still want to take a look at this if you’re a fan.

Our Score:
4.0
