House M.D. Season 5
At the end of season 4 things seemed to calm down in the Universe where Dr. House rules. Except for his relationship with Wilson being over due to the death of Wilson’s girlfriend, things seemed to return to what one could call “normal”. House’s old team was still working at the hospital, his new team was getting used to his strange behaviour, and every day saw a new strange illness coming by. House becoming predictable? Forget it!
Season 5 gives us – next to plenty of weird diseases – more sparks between House and Cuddy, more friendship woes between House and Wilson, and even heated discussions between House and… House!
Sound and Vision:
Immaculate quality with vibrant colors, perfect contrast, high level of detail and no digital artefacts. What more do you want?
We get a 5.1 surround track this time and it perfectly manages to add atmosphere to the show even more than the series already has. Excellent use of the surround speakers and subwoofer when necessary.
Extras:
– Audio Commentary
– A Milestone for House: 100th Episode
– Keeping it Real: Accuracy in Writing
– Dr. Mom: Cuddy’s Storyline
– Anatomy of a Teaser
– Casting Sessions
A number of nice extras that complete this DVD box very well, but die-hard fans may be wanting something more.
Conclusion:
Most series start to become repetitive after a while and go into rehash mode where the same old things are used over and over again until they’re so boring nobody cares anymore and the show gets cancelled. Not with House, though!
We’re already at season 5 and things are still going strong. Just when you think things can’t get any stranger, plots can’t go more insane and tension can’t get any higher, Hugh Laurie and the rest of the cast get into situations you couldn’t imagine yourself.
As such, Season 5 keeps up the pace as well as the quality of the show and there really is nothing to complain about. House M.D. is and remains one of the best shows on TV and now on DVD. Get it. Now!
