Insider, The

Jeff Wigand (Crowe), former head of research of a tobacco company, sends a bunch of documents which proove that the tobacco industry is aware of the dangers of their product to Lowell Bergman (Pacino), producer of the news show “60 minutes”. When Wigand’s former bossess notice the contact between Wigand and Bergman, they try to make him stop talking about what he knows of the industry.

Based on a true story, The Insider is a terrific drama which unfortunately did not receive even one Oscar although the movie was nominated 7 times.

Sound and Vision:
The image quality of this DVD is good without any remarks and the same can be said about the sound. Since most of the film is about dialogues, the surround channels are hardly used and most sounds come from front and center speakers. Nothing special, but definitely as it should be.

Only a production featurette is present. Poverty rules.

Pacino and Crowe are again in top form in this movie and the 7 nominations show that. Unfortunately the DVD only contains a short featurette. Still, a good buy for anyone who is in for a very good movie.
