Kyle XY

One day a young boy is found wandering around in the city naked after having come out of the woods nearby. He gets taken by the police and sent to a home where he displays some remarkable capabilities that lead the manager of the home to contact psychiater Nicole Trager. Nicole gets so fascinated by the boy that she decides to take him into her home until his parents are found and in the meantime he gets the name Kyle. With the help of the Trager family and their friends he starts to learn extremely quickly how to socialize with other people and he starts searching to find out who or what he is and where he came from.

What nobody knows, however, is that Kyle is being followed by a mysterious man who seems to know more about him and why he can do extraordinary things…

Sound and Vision:
The image quality is decent but nothing special. It’s clear that the series doesn’t have a huge budget as some decors clearly seem to be made of cardboard but luckily this doesn’t spoilt the fun.

The sound is 5.1 but isn’t used at full capacity as most of the time dialogues are what it’s all about.

Extras:
– Audio Commentary
– Kyle Declassified
– Endgame extensive episode
– Alternative “Pilot”

Little interesting extras

Conclusion:
Kyle XY isn’t a big budget TV show but it’s got an interesting concept (a boy with extreme capabilities who seems to have total amnesia), nice storyline and a bit of “The O.C.” feeling, added with a slice of sci-fi and mystery. Overall the acting is decent although it does seem like Jean-Luc Bilodeau and April Matson (Josh and Lori Trager) are still struggling a bit to find their role. Otherwise there’s nothing to complain about.

This “full season” counts ten episodes but it’s just enough to get the series started and leave enough questions unanswered to have the viewer looking forward to the second season. A second season I personally am looking forward to as well. Kyle XY isn’t top of the bill sci-fi but it’s certainly interesting to watch with plenty of comedy, interesting episodes and an overall background story that keeps you wandering about what is going to happen next. Definitely one to check out!
