Moonlight – The Complete Series
Mick St. John is a private investigator but not your everyday one as he’s also a vampire. As such he has to drink blood but he’s never liked what he is and tries not to harm humans. Instead he does his job and on the side also does some investigations for his fellow vamps. He once saved TV reporter Beth Turner when she was still a little child and was kidnapped by his ex-wife Coraline who turned him and has kept an eye over her ever since. When one day the two meet they decide to team up and work together on an investigation but before he knows it Mick starts to have feelings for Beth.
Sound and Vision:
The image and sound quality are what you would expect from a recent series and compression errors are down to a minimum while detail is decent. The action scenes get nice support from the surround speakers while dialogues remain clear and understandable at all times.
Extras:
None
Conclusion:
Moonlight get stopped after one season and it’s clear why. The series has potential but the fact remains that the most interesting character is in fact St.John’s best friend Josef Kostan who’s been alive for 400 years. St.John himself as well as the character of Beth are a bit lame and overall the series misses some immersion. Towards the end things tend to heat up and the start of a continuing arc where St.John’s identity could get revealed is set up but by then it’s too late and we’ll never see how things turn out. As such, Moonlight is a nice snack in between some better series.
