16 million quests done daily in World of Warcraft

According to Jeff Kaplan, there are sixteen million quests completed on a daily base in World of Warcraft. If you know that the game has a playerbase of about twelve million people then that aint so bad!

on the website of Kotaku he gave some more information about the quests. The original World of Warcraft launched with 2600 quests instead of the 600 that were normally planned and with the latest expansion this number has risen to 7650.

First, we want to pass on World of Warcraft lead game designer Jeffrey Kaplan's apologies. He's very sorry about Stranglethorn Vale's 19-piece fetch fest Nesingwary's Expedition. But it's clear WoW players adore questing.

How do we know? Kaplan says that the legions of players inhabiting Blizzard's massively multiplayer online game are completing more than 16 million quests a day on average. Perhaps the more staggering figure was the time slice from July of 2007 to March of 2009, when World of Warcraft players racked up an impressive 8,570,222,426 quests.
And still people are nagging that they can't find enough quests for their achievements!

I havn't played WoW in a long time, but its probably safe to assume a good chunk of those are daily quests. In The Burning Crusade you could easily do 10 daily quests in under an hour, and most people did to farm mats and gold for their raiding guilds.

If anything, that number is much lower then I would have expected.

I doubt they would release statistics about what percent of players actually did a majority of those quests but its probably safe to assume that a dedicated 2-3 million players make up 90% of those quests completed on a daily basis.

In my opinion these numbers show a decline in the active player base compared to the advertised 12 million installed base.
