16% of X360s die and it will get worse

While Microsoft claims only 3% of their consoles die, the truth is closer to 16%. At least, if you can believe the latest report from warranty selling company SquareTrade.

The company has amassed over 1000 warranty claims and found out that 16,4% of all XBox360s sooner or later fail, with the infamous Red Ring of Death taking care of 60% of that. This compared to 3% failure rates for the PS3 and Nintendo Wii.

And if you think that's bad, SquareTrade CEO Steve Abernethy thinks it's going to get even worse:

"It is reasonable to believe these failure rates will increase over time, since the Xbox 360 failure issues tend to increase with prolonged use where overheating appears the main culprit,"

I agree. It's far more than 16%. I sended my Xbox 360 TWICE for repair, so I now have my third 360 since I bought it.
