3D Realms: we didn't receive money from Take2

Posted on Saturday, 16 May 2009 by Speed, source: Shacknews
We reported earlier that Take2 has filed suit against 3D Realms, claiming they're owed millions of dollars by the developer for not finishing Duke Nukem Forever.

The first documents for that lawsuit have now emerged and they show Take2 asking that all Duke assets remain intact during proceedings (which will take quite some time before they start).

3D Realms founder, Scott Miller, has posted a comment regarding the lawsuit, stating that 3D Realms never received the 12 million dollars Take2 claims to have paid for development of Duke Nukem Forever:
"No. We didn't get a penny of that money," said Miller. "This, along with so much else, is 100% spin, being eaten up by those who have no clue whatsoever."
Miller also stated they'll have more to say "soon", but we all know what "soon" means in the mind of 3D Realms employees...

I don't blame them, but they better do something to make sure that the game is finished. Spending $12 million on a publishing deal isn't a contract you can simply just rip. Their best bet is to finish the game and get as much profit as possible out of it.
