A revolutionary new AI (in next Splinter Cell)

Ubisofts co-founder and 'main man' Yves Guillemot gave an interview to the technology section of the BBC site. In the conversation, he acknowledges the problem of some people giving up a game because they cannot get beyond a certain point in that game. I think we've all been there.

Guillemot also sheds some light on the new Artificial Intelligence they are working on that should resolve this 'issue'. The AI engine will recognise an inexperienced gamer versus an experienced one and adept itself, hence the name: Ambient AI.
Players who cannot dedicate hours to learning particular moves or honing their skill can lose interest because they cannot get past a particular point, says Mr Guillemot.

Ubisoft is working on ambient AI that watches what a player does and adapts the game and how the plot plays out to their skill levels, he says.

"It is about AI reacting to your abilities. If you cannot do something after 20 tries it makes sure you still progress."
And he also promised that their new AI will be featured in the new Splinter Cell title:
Mr Guillemot says the next version of Splinter Cell will feature this ambient AI that tunes the game to the player.
Nice to see that Ubisofts hard work to compete amongst the worlds best is paying off. If the ambient AI works, it will be a good evolution for the whole gaming industry... perhaps even attracting girls to anything else but Tetris :)
