A whole lotta Take2

Posted on Monday, 2 June 2003 by Speed, source: Fragland
Last week, Take2 have released their figures for first part of this year which ended April 30th. These figures and the comments on this give quite some interesting things to think about.

First of all, their sales have been enormous, not to say they've made a new record for themselves. For the rest of the year some promising titles are also expected like Manhunt, Max Payne 2 and Hidden & Dangerous 2 which should all help to increase the amount of profit even more.

From the rumour front comes word that they are still interested in buying the games-part of Vivendi, including Blizzard Entertainment and several people at E3 have stated that the publisher was almost ready to make a deal with Vivendi. With Microsoft and EA, the two other parties interested in Vivendi's assets, out of the picture lately, Take2 remains the only valid candidate and the fact that it seems they're willing to pay the huge amount of money Vivendi is asking for its games division ($800 million), it seems clear who of the three publishers will be the next owner of (amongst others) Blizzard.

So one could say things seem to be going quite alright for Take2. Let's hope they continue this winning streak in this era of publishers and developers which are deep into financial problems.
