AMD to bring console-like gaming to PC?
Since AMD isn't making much waves in the desktop PC market lately (their CPUs are no match in gaming performance for Intel at the moment) they're looking at other ways for publicity. One of those seems to be AMD Game!.
This is supposed to simplify hardware buying for mainstream consumers and new systems as well as components will have AMD Game! or AMD! Game Ultra badges which will inform customers whether or not the machine can play "today's games"
Personally I think this is more about marketing crap than anything else, but maybe you have a different opinion on that?

"We're trying to help people identify PCs that are really ready to play the latest games," AMD desktop gaming strategist Brent Barry explained to Shacknews. "Basically, to bring a little bit of that console-like simplicity to the mainstream gamers."
"We looked at a couple of different ways that we could try to identify what you needed," said Barry. "One idea was essentially to do an AMD Game! 1, AMD Game! 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and keep going like that. Another one was to do AMD Game! 2007, AMD Game! 2008, AMD Game! 2009, those kinds of things."
"At the end of the day, we decided all of those pieces ended up increasing complexity," added Barry. "We make it really easy for [the mainstream] to identify a gaming PC. It's not just that we love capital letters and exclamation marks, which we obviously do."
And here's what the current specs for the specific badges look like:"We looked at a couple of different ways that we could try to identify what you needed," said Barry. They want to make it easier for ppl who arent as pc adept, or dont have the time or want to research all the hardware to build a good pc (how many ppl got ripped off by the crappy performance of the 8600's? lol), go for it. Means more ppl keeping pc gaming alive, and we need a boost.
And how many ppl are getting ripped off by the 9800 gx2's right now as well. By the time games come out that use that kind of power, the next gen of cards will be out and they will be buying them. What a waste of money. Im telling everyone to get 9600gt's or 9800gtx's and save the cash for beer. lol
