Activision and EA still fighting over Brutal Legend
Activision and Electronic Arts are fighting over the rights to publish Double Fine Productions' Brutal Legend.
For those that don't remember: when Activision and Vivendi merged into Activision-Blizzard, Brutal Legend was one of the games that got the boot. Or so EA (and we) thought.
EA announced in December that they had made a deal with Double Fine and would publish the game next Fall. But that's not in line with Activision's plans.
Activision sent a letter to EA stating that they were still in negotiation with Double Fine and that therefore the deal EA made was actually invalid.
Last up, Double Fine found that with the merger, they had total control over the rights of their game again and could look for another publisher as they pleased.
So does Activision want to publish Brutal Legend? No, they don't. The conclusion of this all is that they want to see some money from EA for getting the rights, just as they got cash for Ghostbusters and Chronicles of Riddick from Atari.
EA has another opinion though:

We doubt that Activision would try to sue. That would be like a husband abandoning his family and then suing after his wife meets a better looking guy.
I doubt this is the last we hear about this story. In other news:
