New in this version are, of course, the Asian civilizations together with some new victory conditions, improved random maps, new trading possibilities and wonders (which are back from AoE 2).
It might have gone gold now, but the European release is only due somewhere in November. The Americans on the other hand, can get their copies on the 23rd of October...
