Over at the 3DRealms forums is a Q&A with George Broussard on the ongoing (and seemingly neverending) development of Duke Nukem Forever.
To be honest, his comments are starting to sound like one major joke. Here's what he thinks about AI:

Everyone overhypes AI, ya know? All we want to do is provide bad guys that are interesting to fight, and that's don't do dumb things (run into walls, or other glaring errors). In this day and age, flocking, squad behavior and the rest, are all pretty common place.
Some on the multiplayer aspect:UT2K4 took a full team a year and a half to develop. I think it's fair and safe to say that we won't go as far as they did in multiplayer. We just don't have the time or team size to do that.
And of course the usual about the release date:"When it's done". We're past any estimates or guesses, no matter how safe they may be.
So DNF will be released sometime in the far future, will not have extensive multiplayer as they don't have the resources to do that and AI isn't important.
