Analyst predicts €150 PS3 price drop
Posted on Monday, 29 January 2007 by Speed, source: Gamesindustry
Analyst Michael Pachter predicts that the PS3 will be sold out in Europe by May this year and that a price drop from about 150 euros will happen in about a year after the original launch.
With this he compares with DVD-players which used to cost a lot more. He also states that the high price will affect sales and that the price drop will be a logical next step
Pachter also calls the console astonishing and thinks it's worth every penny.
"I'm actually surprised that consoles are not priced more like other consumer electronics, with early movers charged a bunch and the mass market charged less."

According to Pachter, the UK's stock allocation will "quickly disappear" after PS3 goes on sale come March 23, and the console will "sell out relatively soon after launch" in the rest of Europe.
"There will be a few more games by then, with several great games announced for release in May and beyond, so I expect a full sellout by the end of April," he said.
