Anarchy Online remains free in 2007

Posted on Wednesday, 14 September 2005 by Ryuken, source: Funcom
Funcom has announced that they will lengthen the duration of their free edition of their sci-fi mmorpg Anarchy Online till 2007.

The Norwegian publisher/developer launched at the end of 2004 the daring action to provide the basic Anarchy Online package for free to everyone who registers himself and downloads the client. While one did got overwhelmed by the loads of e-mails and offers which tried to convince you to buy the expansions and start paying for the game, the basic game still remained free.

And thus, it will continue to be so, also because of the deal Funcom has made with Massive, a company that provides in-game ads in the free version of Anarchy Online (and also in the mmofps PlanetSide).

“The free initiative has been a great success,” says Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom. ”More than 400.000 new players have signed up during the last ten months, and extremely few MMO titles can show a similar increase in registrations in the same timeframe. Seeing the great feedback from the free offer we are thus going to extend it into 2007 and beyond.”

This totally free approach allows everyone tired of elves, fairies and gnomes to enter a futuristic RPG world full of fun action totally free of cost, and makes it possible for all sci-fi fans to explore a world hailed as the best sci-fi MMO available today.

If you didn't try this game already, you still have the chance to join along the 400.000 players which have signed up during the last ten months for this free mmorpg.
