Are Codemasters rushing Overlord?

Over at QuicksaveJunkie is word that Codemasters are rushing developers Triump Studios to release Overlord as soon as possible... and maybe even a bit too soon

A little bird has told me that Codemasters are cracking the whip over the developers of Overlord, planning to release the game in an almost unfinished state in order to “hit financial targets”. Triumph Studios, the Dutch developers behind the forthcoming PC and Xbox 360 title, are apparently having their work rushed from Alpha to Master stage with nary a by-your-leave from Codies

Seeing that little birds normally don't speak, I suggest to take this with a grain of salt but in any case, we'll know soon enough :)

Hmm... maybe I should hold off buying for awhile then, just to see how it turns out.

Seeing as how Arch Lord was rushed like hell and had huge obvious bugs and balance issues in it during the last week of beta, this doesn't surprise me at all. They will probably screw this one up too.

Hi all, we noticed with interest over the weekend the rumour sourced from QuickSave Junkie that Overlord will be rushed to launch in an unfinished state to "hit financial targets" has appeared.

Both Codemasters and Triumph Studios are happy to report that this rumour is completely untrue; the relationship between our two companies is great, Triumph are well aware of the release date and have been for close to a year now, and, mostly importantly, there's no basis to the report that the game will be released in an unfinished or 'alpha' state.

If you would like any further clarification then Lennart Sas (CEO & Designer at Triumph) has welcomed any feedback (although preferably not this week as the game's development is currently winding up!). The Triumph contact email address is available on their website: www.triumphstudios.com/. I'm also available to chat about the game should you require any further details from Codemasters.

I hope this confirms the game's position and both Triumph and Codemasters hope that everyone's looking forward to the launch of Overlord at the end of June. It's a great game, looks beautiful and is a lot of fun!

Regards :)

Regardless of rumors, after having such a bad experience with Arch Lord, I would have to hear something really good about any of there future games to be interested.
