ArmA II headed towards expansion

Bohemia Interactive, the development studio behind ArmA II, sure is busy as a bee. Not much more than a month ago the studio released ArmA II, and now they're already announcing an expansion for that game. The name of this addon is ArmA II Operation Arrowhead.

The information we could gather from the press release remains pretty vague for now. Basically we found out the game will be situated three years after the events in ArmA II. The fictitious decor of Chernarus will make place for the equally fictitious decor of Takistan, near the Green Sea. This environment should provide plenty of attractive panoramas.

The concept of the game seems to remain the same. Once again the player will experience the game from the perspective of a member of the US military. As such one time you can be an infantryman, the other time a tank commander, etc, it varies.

Those that recently have bought ArmA II needn't fear support for their game is going to be dropped. In the words of Marek Spanel, CEO of Bohemia Interactive:
"Bohemia Interactive is fully committed to supporting the existing ARMA II user base whilst also working on the expansion pack, this will not only allow us to introduce a new and original theater of war to the simulation series, but also improve numerous areas of the core game, for both the original game and the expansion, where we can go even further with adding completely new features"

Additional information is slated to be released at the upcoming (19-23 August) Gamescom in Cologne. In the mean time you'll have to settle for what you can find in this post.
