Artificial Studio's unveil XBox2 engine
Artificial Studio's have unveiled their new engine which they call the Reality Engine and which is supposed to be compatible with XBox2.
UnrealEngine3 is Reality Engine's closest competitor, aimed at the 2006 market, with forward-thinking support for next-generation consoles such as Xbox2. Reality Engine is directly competitive, lacking some minor features, and exceeding others, such as our native pipeline support for Precomputed Radiance Transfer, a technology that will unify the gap between static lightmaps and harsh but dynamic per-pixel lighting, as well as our groundbreaking networked level development technology.
Meanwhile, Gamegossip is reporting that the company has also unveiled an upcoming shooter called Cry Havoc but the strange thing here is that while the game is using their own Reality Engine, it is stated for release only on PCCry Havoc is being designed with Artificial Studios’ Reality Engine, and fits into the first-person shooter genre. Putting an emphasis on modern war tactics combined with real-time strategy, the game has players has players battling as part of a team, putting them to the ever surfacing task of taking out the enemies by destroying bases and resources. The game will support four-player based team play, upgradable character abilities, the ability to construct bases, and various vehicles spanning land, sea and air. Currently Cry Havoc is in the playable state in its internal development phase, and is down for a 2005 release.
