Posted on Sunday, 11 July 2004 by FroFro, source: Fragland
Yes yes, here he is, the first Ask Fragland! It was a quite calm week though, only 4 questions reached the askfragland @ fragland . net mailbox this week, but that way we had the chance to answer them all!

Didn't you get the meaning of this new project? Well, then you can see the first Ask Fragland as an example, and you can start sending questions for Ask Fragland nr.2, which will be online next weekend.

The same as Ask Fragland nr.1; use "AF: *subject*" as your email's subject, and don't forget to tell us your (nick)name, just to give you the credit you deserve ;). You can start sending questions NOW for the second Ask Fragland, and you can send them untill Thursday 15th July 2004 to askfragland @ fragland . net (remember to remove the spaces, it's for preventing spam).

Anyway, here's Ask Fragland nr.1 enjoy it, and send in those questions for nr.2 !

Joris Debien:
I don’t hear a thing anymore about Duality from the publisher Phantagram. What happened to this game and when will it be released?

Fragland:
After searching a while on the net I found 4 different sources that said the game was cancelled, but I wanted to know more. The first movie is from E3 2001, what means that the game was already in development then, but Phantagram, the publisher of the game, was bought for 70 % by NCSoft in August 2002, and they also received the rights of publishing the PC MMORPG Shining Lore. On 24th December 2003, Phantagram became independent again, and since then they’re working on Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, an RTS for Xbox. On their official website under products, you can only see the games Kingdum Under Fire: The Crusaders, Shininglore, Kingdom Under Fire, Forgotten Saga and Zyclunt, and all those titles except Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, which is still under development, are already published. The developer of Duality, Trilobite Graphics, was (in the beginning) only working on projects of other developers, Duality was their first own project. The site of Trilobite Graphics is offline by now, as is Duality’s. You can be pretty sure the game has been cancelled

Marleen van Veen:
A whole while back a heard about a sequel to Black & White, is there anymore information about that one?

Fragland:
It’s an easy answer on this question, Black & White 2 is already in development for a very long time. Besides stunningly nice graphics you can do a lot more things with your beast, and you can also let your villagers fight against other tribes. You can always check the B&W 2 gamepage for screens and info.

What are the chances that Fable and Jade Empire will be ported to the PC?

Fragland:
I was able to find an answer for Jade Empire quite fast and easy; Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk from BioWare Corp. said in an interview that they wanted to port the (for now) Xbox-exclusive to PC, but they had to discuss that with the publisher of the game, Microsoft. Anyway, they surely want to support the PC-community with other games.
We definitely plan to support both PC and console in our future titles. While Jade Empire (a BioWare-owned IP) is currently slated as an Xbox-exclusive title, we might consider porting it to PC some time after it launches on Xbox, after discussing this further with our publisher Microsoft. We definitely plan to support our PC community with some awesome future titles, details on which are not yet announced – we can say, however, that some of these titles are currently planned as PC-exclusive, others are console-exclusive, while others will be co-developed for both console and PC, similar to how Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was developed for PC and Xbox.
You could think that the chance of Jade Empire being ported to PC is big, because Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic also got a PC release, and that game was also developed by BioWare Corp., but don’t forget that the publisher of Jade Empire is Microsoft, the boss of Xbox.

For Fable it was a bit harder to find an answer, so I asked a reliable source in Lionhead Studios, and that source said they were too busy with the Xbox-version to think of a PC-version at the moment.

Silentbomber:
I would like to know all about the new red alert, not the generals 2 or anything but the true sequal to westwoods red alert 2 (even though they are gone now) i hope it dosent go 3d has that was one of red alert's best selling points (or maybe i just don't want it to have high specs :P) anyway I need info now!

Fragland:
Sir yes sir! Too bad I have to tell you that there isn’t a Red Alert 3 being developed. Or not to be certain of; a while ago, I think 2 weeks, there appeared a photo on the net showing artwork of a possible new Command & Conquer title. Whether this is Generals 2 or Red Alert 3, is unknown as the development team for C&C-titles is currently working on Battle for Middle-Earth and will not start working on a new title before that's finished.
Here's the comment on the picture from the developers themselves :
What you saw was a concept / inspirational piece of art that we did over a year ago that displays on our internal EA monitors here at EALA. Concept art is our "What if?" avenue to explore things we may or may not want to do in the future with game content, a certain look, or atmosphere / tone.

FYI, it's an image of a Scrin Primal defending against a GDI attack on a Scrin base. Obviously, the primal is winning. =)
So there's still a chance of a new C&C title coming, but it won't be any time soon.
