Assassin's Creed won't have a demo
Posted on Saturday, 6 October 2007 by L0k1-, source: Gametrailers
Many gamers use the demo as an opportunity to check if a games lived up towards its hype. Sadly, Ubisoft won't be releasing a demo of their new game Assassin's Creed.
Jade Raymond shared this information with us in an interview at Gametrailers. Reason for this move would be the complexity of their new 'sandbox' game. It seems it would be very hard just to make a small portion available as demo. To give her arguments some more backing she refers towards Grand Theft Auto.
It seems she does forget that the newest GTA is still several months off and that the previous GTA games were released on the Xbox and Playstation 2, where downloading a demo was not possible. Another game is also Crackdown which has shown that it is possible to release a demo based upon a 'sandbox' game!

What are you talking about? All the GTA games eventually come out on PC, but we never see any demos for them anyway. We could have had a demo for Vice City or San Andreas, but they chose not too, even though it is evident that the console and PC versions have significant differences (mainly the controls).

still it's strange/stupid that crackdown can do it and not Assassin's Creed.

I disagree. Imo most of the sales of GTA for the PC come from people who haven't played it. If they already own it on a console, then there's no point buying it for the PC too, so the only way they could have played it is if they had a friend with a console and the game, but they themselves did not have a console, and so they went over to their friend's house to play. Personally, the only games I've ever played on a console were sports or racing.
