Atari completes last sale; Shiny now owned by Foundation 9

Posted on Tuesday, 3 October 2006 by Ryuken, source: Gamasutra
Atari has finally found a buyer for Shiny Entertainment. The relatively unknown Foundation 9 is the new owner now, they have a more known portfolio than you would think at first sight though with titles as Revenge of the Sith, The Da Vinci Code and the DS version of Age of Empires.

"The sale of Shiny Entertainment completes the final phase of our strategic restructuring," said David Pierce, President and Chief Executive Officer, Atari, Inc. "We now have a centralized organization that can utilize external studio execution while maintaining internal focus on creative development and production."

"Shiny Entertainment fits well with the current studios of Foundation 9 Entertainment and aligns with our long-term goals for the future,” said Jon Goldman, Chairman and CEO. “The studio has tremendous talent and experience working with big Hollywood franchises and will be working with us on a major, as-yet-undisclosed day and date release. The Shiny team will only add to our capabilities and technology base."

Atari does keep holding the rights to Earthworm Jim though, which is now being remade as a PSP game. Shiny will eventually be relocated to the offices of The Collective where they'll be working on a yet unnanounced movie tie-in according to this Gamespot-interview with Jon Goldman of Foundation 9.
