Halfway through September earlier this year news came out Atari would focus on distribution and social games. To this extent the struggling company launched a spinoff to do the distributing, to ensure neutrality and whatnot.

Today Atari took another step in that announced direction. The company let know they'd be publishing CCP games's EVE Online in the future. It's hard to call EVE Online a genuine social game, though it being an MMORPG, it does come close. Originally launched in 2003 the famous space MMO has known many evolutions and expansions. A client incorporating all these changes and a 60 days subscription will be sold in a package deal by Atari.

A step in the right direction. An MMO on the shelves may convince the hesitant customers.
