BF2 Stats in your browser
Posted on Monday, 27 June 2005 by thondermonst, source: BFN
Electronic Arts has admitted that they have underestimated the impact of the ranking system in Battlefield 2. There has been a lot of criticism on the in-game BFHQ interface which allows players to view their statistics. For people who are looking for an easier way , Battlefield Nation has one.
People can now build web-pages for themselves, their clan or website and view and compare statistics in their browser, thanks to this handy little script.
Have you ever wanted to quickly compare scores with a buddy, without using the clunky BFHQ interface? Well now you can thanks to BFN Forums member, "KuranesGrey". He's created a CGI proof-of-concept script allowing you to access your Ranked data through a webbrowser. Not only that, but the source has been released publically under the MIT license, allowing creative members of the community to build their own tools based on it.

What all these stat sites lack is the concept of time. An average score per map for someone that's been playing longer than a week isn't accurate. As we play longer, we get better, our stats increase. I'd like to collect my "clans" (if that's what you want to call it) stats daily, dump them into a MySQL database and include the "date" field that the record was made, and then you can truly make some accurate analysis.
It's my understanding that the stats info is picked up from BF2 Stat's server in XML format. Cool. Makes life easy. The hard part is finding out where to go to get the stats, and what credentials are required to do so.
This thread started with a comment about some script that sounds like it will do this for you. So, where's the script, and what does it really do?
