BF2142 goes "gold"

EA has come up with a new definition of "going gold", their goldmaster of the multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2142 will be going to replication factories but it still needs a Q&A-treatment for "final testing".

EA and DICE are pleased to announce that Battlefield 2142 has gone gold. Meaning that after months of internal testing and balancing, the game has been handed over to the quality assurance team for final testing. Congratulations to everyone involved, and a big thank you to everyone involved in the Beta testing.

I might smell a releaseday-patch here, but anyway, the demo that will eventually be released will hopefully give a good on the stability of the full game (which will be in stores on October 20th in Europe and on October 17th in the US).

Like Windows Vista which is in its "Release Candidate 1" version right now - it means it's past the beta stage but not quite ready for being copied onto discs yet since there's stll some bugs, tweaks and changes needed/wanted.
