Battlefield 1942 interview
A new interview on Battlefield 1942 with Niklas Persson is up over at The Wargamer[BLOCK]Niklas: Our original idea of making Battlefield dates back 3 years when were a small game company called Refraction. We had a vision of making a game where you could drive any type of vehicle in a semi real world where we would include vehicles ranging from jeeps to F-16s and choppers. We had a basic engine up and running with multiplayer capability and the vehicles mentioned. After some tweaking and changes to the design to please our new publishers, the game was transformed into Codename Eagle. Codename really shines in multiplayer and really shows the potential of having multiple vehicles in a FPS type of game. If you want a hint of how Battlefield will play in multiplayer, try the Codename Eagle demo on a 16 player LAN!
A word of warning though, the game was not meant to work without flaws in the conditions that the Internet provides and is therefore quite laggy on the net. We're spending a lot of time and resources of getting the Internet game play quality of Battlefield: 1942 up to the standard which is expected in tomorrow’s games[/BLOCK]hmmm... quite kewl. Saying your game will suck on the net is really making is feel confident it will be a great game...
