Battlefield 2 update 1.12 released

EA has released the 1.12 patch for Battlefield 2 and its expansion Special Forces.

It makes sure that players of both games can happily play together on ranked servers. That means you'll need this patch anyway to be able to play on ranked servers, even if you don't plan to buy Special Forces (which comes out this week). Download this really big chunk of 'bugfixing goodness' (276MB in zipped format!) right here from our fileservers.

As you can read in the changelog below, there are only changes/fixes for the expansion, nearly none for the 'vanilla' BF2 game.

BUG FIXES
- Fixed a crash when users switch weapons using the mouse wheel while piloting a bomber (SU-34, F-15 and J10) in core BF2 maps.
- Removed the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line from kits from "The Iron Gator" map.
- Fixed single player loading screens to match map selection image.
- Fixed an issue in the menus so that users can click on BF2:SF ribbons to view the descriptions.
- Fixed an issue in the Browser so that BF2:SF servers are now represented with a green "2" icon.
- Global improvement of collision detection on the Grappling Hook and the Zip Line.
- Fixed damage state artillery icon on the 3d map when an artillery is destroyed.

You gotta be joking about the "big chuck of bugfixing goodness", right? This patch is right next to useless for the users of regular Battlefield 2.

I also noticed they allow the use of expansion weapons also in the regular maps.. they are basically forcing people who want to continue playing the game to buy the expansion. Sheesh, gotta love their cheap marketing tactics.

The patch didn't fix any of the single player bugs I've been living with...guess I can stop hoping they will be fixed...

I basically said all those things in a post two days ago and right here in this post.

I could place it between brackets to highlight the sarcasm perhaps...:)

This patch just allows for seamless play between BF2 and SF, if you did not get that. It is not a bug fixing patch at all.

Not for BF2 no, but there were quite some bugs left in the retailversion of SF though.

Man you said everything i wanna say! I mean come on, if you install SF then you get all your original weapon unlocks, along with the new SF guns, jeez that sucks! i agree its a cheap marketing tactic, it's like selling someone a bomb and saying hey bring it back if you need a refill on the gunpowder! hell EA irritate me sometimes!!!!!!!!

EA is thinking smart. That's all it is. If you had a large video game company you would probably do the same. There are games that people sell game money for real money. It's just the games way of saying "if you want to be strong give us money." It is sooooo freakin' smart.
