Battlefield 2 v1.03 patch delayed

Posted on Friday, 19 August 2005 by Ryuken, source: EA
The highly anticipated 1.03 patch for the multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2 has been delayed till September. This expansive update was previously planned for the end of august.

1.03 Update Progress
In this space about a month ago, EA and DICE listed many of the feature tweaks and updates that are pending for the 1.03 Update. In order to address the key issues as quickly as possible, we set an aggressive release date for the end of August. Unfortunately, as we approach the end of this month, it has become apparent that we will not meet this goal, and we wanted to keep you abreast of our progress. We are committed to making the 1.03 Update as comprehensive as possible, so while it is important to us to keep the release date, it is more important that we take the time to do this right. We will avoid committing to another date, but know that our goal is to get 1.03 out as quickly as possible in September, and we are very close to that goal. Keep fighting soldiers, the 1.03 Update is coming!
So, it's back to the age-old 'When it's done!', definitely the smarter option instead of making a new promise.

On a more positive note; ATI has released the 5.8 Catalyst drivers which fix some graphical issues in Battlefield 2 also. And the Gmax plugin tools for the BF2 Editor are available too:

I’d like to announce that we are releasing the first version of the Gmax plug-ins to be used in conjunction with the Battlefield 2 Editor. These tools provide the same basic functionality as those provided for 3D Max. That being said, please be aware that because of the limitations of Gmax itself, there may be some differences.

listen guys.. I understand your frustration. I have some major issues with this game as well. But over all, it's relatively decent. You are right. These corporations have to look at the bottom line. They are always having to comprimise along the line somewhere. Most certainly - you can't please everyone. So, keep giving opinions in these forums or write an email to DICE. One out of a few thousand emails might have some impact. My rant for DICE: If I fucking pop a guy in the head with a bullet...damnit, he should fucking die or be injured beyond function. So why is it that you decide to water down the killing so much that it grinds down the nerves of those who take the time to strategize, find a team or a good hiding spot, develop good shooting skills, and have patience to carry out a good clean shot? It's so fucking frustrating that you develop a game that is like an arcade game, when it really is not an arcade game. It is basically a war sim. Stick to a realistic war sim and you most likely will have created the best game of the decade! But no... some fucknut has to comprimise the game's true intention by creating a Doom type shoot'em up. Your customers, me, are smarter and demanding more than you think. So, the next time that I buy a game, it won't be yours unless you make it "real." Also, look what happened to Novalogic when they changed from a voxel technology to the more common smooth terrain Doom-like engine. It sucked! No grass to hide. No long views without fog. Novalogic has screwed themselves. What the hell has happened to this industry? Where are you getting your game designers from? Are they fags and into interior decorating? Your games look like it. Come on? Rough up the game and give it realism. That's ultimately what we all want. A real game. You came close with BF2 but unfortately it too has fallen to the new generation of game fag developers and stupid ass prick-headed executives. Damn... If I only had some bucks to start my own company. You fuckers would be toast. I garantee it.
