Description

The year is 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice age has thrown the world into a panic. The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth’s population. The math is simple and brutal: some will live, most will die. In Battlefield 2142, ...

Battlefield 2142 is coming! First trailer released

Posted on Tuesday, 21 March 2006 by Ryuken, source: Blues
Blues spotted a nice trailer of a new Battlefield-game which is set in the future as it was recently revealed/rumoured. The movie came from PC Gamer magazine.

Battlefield 2142 it is then, and it looks like we're going to war in mechs and other sci-fi looking vehicles/aircrafts. Be sure to check out the trailer since it already shows actual in-game footage.

The game should be out by the Fall of 2006. ET: Quake Wars vs this, we can only enjoy this upcoming clash of the titans.

Update: in this post on the TotalBF2-forums someone has revealed more info of the actual preview in PC Gamer (the movie was leaked apparently). If this was a hoax after all, then it's a damn good one. :) But for now, we assume this is all real and it seems like Dice/EA have a lot of ideas left which aren't implemented yet. It's confirmed that Battlefield 2142 will use the BF2 engine (with some extra goodies of course). E3 will definitely bring more intel on this game.

BF2 is fucked up either way.. the game was much better back when it was released than what it is now. The patches screwed all over the game.

Disappointing that they will turn to a sci-fi shooter and that they won't use a new engine.

I also share the impression that it seems a bit too fast, it really looks like EA wants to go in the ring against Quake Wars and UT2007. The features don't really sound like much has changed.

Anyway, they still know how to make good teasers.:p

Yeah, I agree but I don't think I could ever chose between Battlefield and Quake Wars. :(

Yea really, they don’t rely on successful games that they re-release every year. They most certainly do push for innovation and quality. They have never attempted to monopolize different aspects of the gaming industry.

For example, The Sims, I mean only a excellent game making company could come out with 200 expansions for one game.
