Former DICE CEO Fredrik Liliegren stated in an interview that Battlefield 3 has already been three years under development and will blow everyone away. Especially because it isn't Modern Warfare 2:
Well I knew that they were going to the console route because the numbers on the PC where dwindling. I know what they were talking about on the PC side for [the next] Battlefield, and they haven't announced any of that yet, after three years, so I know what's coming, and I still can't talk about it because I'm still under NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

It may not be "that experience" but to blow away Modern Warfare 2 it will have to be pretty great I think. Or they can keep developing it for another four years or so and by then MW2 is oldskool and completely passé. Then it isn't so hard to surpass :)...

Vehicle vs foot vs air based combat.
