Big surprise: BF2 1.4 patch not coming out today

We previously reported that EA Spain declared that the final 1.4 patch for Battlefield 2 would normally have been released today.

As we all know by now, it's almost guaranteed that EVERY BF2 patch deadline gets broken and this is indeed the case again here.

EA Europe has now stated the following on the EA UK boards:

Due to some last minute changes the release of the 1.4 patch has been delayed.

We do not anticipate this delay being a lengthy one, however we do not have a fixed date for release at this time.

We will update you as soon as there is further information.

Apologies to those who were expecting the patch today, however in order for this patch to succeed in the way it is intended a little extra time is being taken to ensure it is right.

We understand that this is going to cause a significant amount of aggravation, however it is worth ensuring that the patch actually resolves as many issues as possible. So some additional time is being taken to ensure that this is the case.

This last thing we want is a repeat of the 1.3 patch.

When it's done, fine. Maybe it's best just not to say anything about patch releases in the future, especially not the "exact" deadlines. :)

Got to remember people that this is not EA's doing it's DICE's. All EA does is publish the game but doesn't have really anything to do with the development of the game. DICE is the developer here and they are the ones screwing us over. Trust me, I don't like EA just as much as the next guy but but if EA is the developer then that's where it creates more problems for games. But EA does have say in release dates and things like that so just like EA does now they say a release date and give us the game on that date no matter how far along the game is. But just be patient I have some high hopes for this next patch and they are probably making a REALLY smart move by prolonging the release of Patch 1.4. We are just going to have to wait and see what DICE is going to come out with.

all i want is the "no vehicles" and "less people to start ranked match". no vehicles will probably get old, just want to check it out on the field, man to man, no base raping tanks, muahaha. but i will miss the choppers =(
they should make no land, no air, or NO vehicle modes. that would rock.
just choppers and people. AT kit would get popular, heh.

i have mixed feelings about the whole deal, i agree the last patch wasnt what everyone hoped, and i have seen a few hacks that need to be addressed, but again, i would still rather wait than not wait and only get a half effort with 1.4

Uh, wrong. EA owns more than half of DICE, and is a responsible business partner.

What happened to BF:Vietnam will also happen to BF2.
