BioShock limited to two installs
Posted on Wednesday, 22 August 2007 by Zwan, source: Voodoo Extreme
First it seemed as if 2K Games had implemented some obnoxious copy protection on the PC version of BioShock , because the game couldn't be installed more than twice.
That is now corrected: only two installed games can be activated at the same time. This is how it goes:
Should your two computers crash at the same time (thus maning an uninstall impossible), then you'll have to call Securom and explain what has happened.
That is now corrected: only two installed games can be activated at the same time. This is how it goes:
* You install BioShock on PC #1.
* You unlock it via the net-based activation.
* You install BioShock on PC #2.
* You unlock it via the net-based activation.
* You install BioShock on PC #3.
* You go to unlock it, but no! You may be an evil space pirate hell bent on installing the game on your grandmother's computer for free! No unlock for you evil doer!
* You're not an evil space pirate so you go home and uninstall the game from PC #2.
* The worker bees in PC #2 send an alert via the net to 2K's HQ who reimburse you with one install credit.
* You return to Gran's house and install it on her POS PC.
* You attempt to unlock BioShock again and hey presto, it unlocks!
* You start the game but are booted back to desktop because Gran forgot to buy a Shader Model 3.0 GPU at the bingo :(
* You unlock it via the net-based activation.

to be honest i really enjoyed the demo, guess the game is not for everyone :)
about the people telling that they're not buying it anymore, easy to say, but most of the time you're still going to buy it ;)

Nope, not gonna get it, not even gonna try the demo now!
Bet you 2K don't even put a notice on the game-box stating that you only get to install it twice, but you still pay the same for this game as you do for other games but here you get less for the same price!
I format once a year, jumping through 2K's hoops is too much hassle for my taste - and that's on top of refusing to accept such restrictions out of pure principle!
And believing that these restrictions will prevent any pirating is ludicrous, all it's gonna do is harass the honest part og the gamers who pay for their games...

Right on, my point exactly! The restrictions are uncalled for, if they wanna restrict my use of the game they will have to lower the price accordingly!
