Bioshock 2 missing lan support and dedicated servers
Posted on Thursday, 28 January 2010 by daffeh, source: 2kgames.com
In a blog post on the 2K Games website a developer for Irrational Games states that due to a lack of time there will not be any lan play nor will there be any dedicated server support in Bioshock 2. The positive news is that private matches are still in the scope of the project.
If this becomes the next big payable DLC hype on PC then I'm handing in my gamer badge!
Do you support LAN play on consoles or PC? Do you support dedicated servers?
Short answer, no and no. There is always a finite amount of time for the development of a game. Bringing Multiplayer to BioShock was a daunting task between the tech (there was no multiplayer support in the codebase from the first game) and the expectations of the community. Either you try to do everything and so nothing feels finished or you focus your efforts to do a smaller number of things really well like an accessible online experience. We chose to spend the time we had creating a solid game foundation and unfortunately that did not include LAN play or dedicated servers.
After Modern Warfare 2 and Starcraft II this is the third big title in a few months time that will feature 'crippled' multiplayer after developers choose to go into a more console oriented direction for their multiplayer experience.Short answer, no and no. It's the Unreal3 Engine. WTF. lol. What does the first game not having MP have to do with anything? What a line of BS, and ppl will buy it too.

PC online gaming is slowly going downhill, maybe time to stop spending $$$ on pc upgrades and stick to my PS3. Not only are big companys going to have bad sales of PC games but hardware will suffer too, why get the graphics card upgrade if your not going to get the latest games because you want to play them online but that part of the game is crap?
good point but my 10 year old Graphics card runs all high end games today at full spec with ease lol..i own a 360 and it's a great exp...we should speak highly of the PC gen as they brought consoles into this world...fir years it was pc gaming.....then they brough us a Ps1 awesome...then out comes the Ps2 fucking awesome..then out comes the Sexbox 1 uber fucking good and it blew the ps2 away..then out comes the 360 and a ps3..some argue its graphics are the same but on a raw detail field graph the 360 is cleaner and more toned...just depends who is happy with what..soo ther ya have it :D
