Big chief Strauss Zelnick of Take Two has made some surprising announcements during the Smid Cap Conference. His company is showing interest in bringing Bioshock and Civilization to the MMO genre. A movie based upon the Bioshock franchise is also something they are interested in.


I can understand the MMO aspect for Civilization, since in the past there has been small MMORTS games. These were mostly F2P(free), but if a company with a big franchise would try and develop one, they might unlock a whole new market.

Still there is the problem with Civilization that it is turnbased and uses historical characters. For example, i don't see 200 Abraham Lincoln's or Julius Ceasars running around the map!

Bioshock on the other hand i don't really see as an MMO. The atmosphere of the game was very important and how are you going to keep that if 100 players are 'grinding' for Plasmid or camping the Little Sisters and Big Daddies?

Finally, Take Two also expressed interest in a movie based upon Bioshock. If the budget would be big enough and they would stay true to the setting of the game, this might be a hit. Luckily Uwe Boll has giving up on directing movies based upon games!
