Bioshock movie on hold
It seems that the economic crisis is hitting everywhere as Universal has decided to halt pre-production on Gore Verbinski's take on BioShock as the budget was skyrocketing towards $160 million.
Universal is currently looking at how they could decrease costs and one of the things being looked at it shooting outside the US:
"We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the U.S. to take advantage of a tax credit," Verbinski said. "We are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern."
Both Universal and Take2 have commented that the Bioshock movie will not become another "Halo" which saw both Universal and Fox get cold feet after budget questions started to rise and finally cancelled the entire project.We'll see what happens. If anything new comes out we'll be sure to let you know.
