Blizzard explains Battle.net revamp, StarCraft 2 beta on its way?

The service, which has been around since the early Diablo days, is to contain four key elements. Players will always be connected to the service, have access to open arena's for some competition, experience seamless support for user content and mods, and will have community tools tightly integrated into the service.
While we all knew Blizzard intended to make Battle.net much more like steam, the really interesting info isn't actually mentioned. First of all, back in August of 2009, Blizzard delayed StarCraft II to 2010 and indicated that revamping the Battle.net service was the main time-consuming issue here. So now that they are nearly done with the new service, it surely is time to let us preview StarCraft II right?
One can also hardly miss the message in the accompanying video which says "Welcome to the StarCraft II beta". This screen is also dated at January 22nd so assuming they are nearly ready isn't too much of a reach.
Things are starting to itch here!
